Artist Bio

Jimmy Imperial’s “infectious grooves” and beginnings were the hardscrabble streets of East Los Angeles where one could escape and survive the street violence by embracing its rich musical culture. It began at an early age after winning a national competition judged & awarded by Edgar Winter’s White Trash leading to legendary status in a world of serious competition in all fields of music; from blues rock to jazz to alternative punk.
Jimmy schooled with some of the best, famous and notorious musicians to come out of the LA’s east side, this included recognition from and playing alongside groups with extreme styles ranging from Ruben & the Jets (Frank Zappa), Los Lobos, and Poncho Sanchez to Chicano punks Los Illegals and everything in between. With that rising fame, Imperial never sold out and carried his hard fought ability and those “infectious grooves” out of the streets & into the Hollywood Bowl.
Signing on to work for A&M records, the young Imperial worked and toured internationally with Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass alongside Lani Hall. Later, his reputation found him working with contemporary musical greats, John Patitucci, John Farrow, Peter Johnson, Luis Conte, Dave Wallace, Sal Macaluso, Bill Sharpe, Frankie Crawford, Poncho Sanchez, composer Michael Colombier, Lenny Kravitz and many others.
He has performed on stages and recorded in studios around the world, appearing on TV shows such as Solid Gold, Soul Train, Melrose Place, MTV etc. and at major media events including the LA Summer Olympics.
Jimmy Imperial’s Solo EP, “Let’s Go” offers a taste of many cultures and a hybrid blend of genres from Cool Jazz with a Latin flair to some R&B  Jazz with a hint of ol’ school funk.  Imperial’s sound consists of the complexity of Wes Montgomery’s Octaves, Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour’s jazz and blues style, and Carlos Santana’s Latin flair all perfectly mixed in one.
Look for Jimmy’s much anticipated new album coming out Summer 2015.
